I obtained my Ph.D. in the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the University of Sao Paulo in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. I have completed my training for two years at the Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard University in Boston, USA. Since then, I have been working as a Post-Doctoral Associate II at the Children?s Memorial Research Center and Northwestern University in Chicago, USA. During 5 years working in Dr Soares laboratory in Chicago, I was able to get funding from multiple sources - one million dollars from a brain tumor foundation and three hundred thousand dollars form Avon Foundation to study breast tumors. I have published more than fifty peer-reviewed articles in the cancer research, genomics and epigenomics fields and have worked as a consultant in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. I have given interviews to feature articles in the journals ?Nature Medicine?, "Nature Biotechnology" and the British magazine "The Economist" about my work. I was also a reviewer for several articles from different journals, which include Stem Cells, Cancer Research and Nature, among others. Currently , a Professor and Researcher at the Genomics Sciences and Biotechnology Program and Director of Research and Innovation UCB in Brasilia . In addition, I work as a consultant for two research groups in Brazil in the epigenetics and epigenomics fields (one in Sao Paulo and the other in Curitiba). More recently, I have evaluated different projects for European and South American funding agencies. My work was featured and highlighted in the cover of the four journals (Stem Cells, Journal of Cellular Physiology, Bioessays e Drug Discovery Today) and one book. My main research interests are the impact of non-coding RNA expression in normal and pathological states with a focus in genomics, epigenetics and epigenomics.
