Oscar Balancin is PhD in Metallurgical Engineering by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1981 with the thesis: Study of hot deformation of microalloyed steel using plane compression. He made a Postdoctoral in Metallurgical Engineering at MacGill University, Montreal Canada, with the supervision of the Prof. J.J.Jonas. He is full professor at Department of Materials Engineering, Federal University of São Carlos, São Carlos Brazil. The following disciplines are currently given within the Department of Materials Engineering: Physical Metallurgy - undergraduate level, Plastic Deformation Processes - undergraduate level, Computational Materials Engineering undergraduate level, and Manufacture of Metallic Materials graduate level. He has developed research in the area of deformation under hot working conditions, especially in physical and numeric simulations of thermomechanical processing. He has conducted academic project supervising MSc, PhD and PosDoc students. Also, has developed technological project in association with Brazilian Industries. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
