Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1996), complemented by a master's (2001) and a Ph.D. (2006) in Civil Engineering from the Universidade de São Paulo. My academic journey includes postdoctoral research at the University of Central Florida (2014-2015) and the Technical University of Munich (2018-2019). During my Ph.D., I conducted advanced research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the guidance of Professor Francis A. DiGiano and at Duke University with Professor Andrew J. Schuler.Currently, I am a full professor at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá and serve as an advisor in the Graduate Program in Urban Engineering (PEU-UEM). My primary research focus is on the study of the urban water cycle, emphasizing Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations applied to water and wastewater treatment processes, as well as the development of technologies for monitoring water distribution networks using sensors and wireless networks. Additionally, my research group explores advanced biological treatment processes for effluents through physical and real-scale models and the modeling of stormwater drainage systems. In parallel, I conduct research in the fields of additive manufacturing, sensor development, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, exploring their intersections with civil engineering to innovate in sustainable technologies. I am a co-founder of the startups Smart Research Laboratory - Empresa Brasileira de Sensores Ltda and Smart Sensor Design - Empresa Paranaense de Sensores Ltda, where we apply multidisciplinary approaches to tackle contemporary challenges in engineering and technology.
