Holds a degree in Geology from the Institute of Geosciences at the University of São Paulo (1993), a masters degree in Geosciences from the State University of Campinas (1997), and a Ph.D. in Regional Geology from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2002). A faculty member at the Institute of Geosciences at UNICAMP since 2003 under a full-time contract, and currently holds the position of Associate Professor. His primary area of expertise has been Petroleum Geology, focusing on the geological characterization of reservoirs at different scales of analysis. Head of the Geological Reservoir Modeling Laboratory (MGR) since 2010, he has coordinated several RD projects centered on carbonate reservoirs in the pre-salt layers of the Campos and Santos basins. His research has emphasized petrographic and petrophysical characterization and its relationships with various sedimentary facies. Through the application of scale-transfer methodologies, he aims to define sedimentary heterogeneities in rocks at both well and seismic scales. He was a full member of the Governing Body of the UNICAMP Library System from 2010 to 2014 and served as Head of the Department of Geology and Natural Resources (DGRN) from 2014 to 2016. Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Council of the Center for Energy and Petroleum Studies (CEPETRO) and coordinator of the Geology research line at the Innovation Center for Energy Production (EPIC) at UNICAMP.
