He has a BA and BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo - FFCLRP (1995-1998), having done his undergraduate studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Eda Therezinha de Oliveira Tassara and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Silvana Aparecida Pires de Godoy. He holds a master's degree (1999-2002) and a doctorate (2002-2007) in Education from the PPGE of the Federal University of São Carlos, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Denise de Freitas. He did a post-doctoral internship at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2014-2015) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anderson Ferrari. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences (DCB) at the State University of Southwest Bahia, Jequié-BA campus. He coordinates ACUENDAÇÕES - Study and Research Group on Gender, Sexuality and Ethnic-Racial Relations at UESB. He is a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Science Education and Teacher Training (PPG-ECFP) and the Postgraduate Program in Ethnic Relations and Contemporaneity (PPG-REC), both at UESB, Jequié-BA campus. He was vice-coordinator of the Biological Sciences course at UESB, Jequié campus, BA from 2007-2008. He was coordinator of the PARFOR Biological Sciences degree course at UESB, Jequié campus, BA from 2009-2013. He was vice-coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Ethnic Relations and Contemporaneity in the 2016-2018 biennium and in the 2022-2024 biennium. He was director of Region 5 (Northeast) of the Brazilian Association of Biology Teaching (Sbenbio) from 2017-2019. He was a member of the board (second secretary) of the Brazilian Association of Homoculture Studies (Abeh) in the 2017-2018 biennium. He was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Ethnic Relations and Contemporaneity at UESB from 2018-2022. He has been associate editor of the journal Odeere since 2024. He has experience as a teacher and researcher on the following issues: teaching Science and Biology and issues of the body, gender and sexuality; teacher training and issues of gender, sexuality and ethnic-racial relations and the interface between sexism, lgbttqiapn+phobia, racism and ethnocentrism in schools.
