Carolina Bioni Garcia

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the São Paulo State University Júlio Mesquita Filho UNESP, Master in Experimental Biology from the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR) and PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP). Works as a Public Health Researcher and Head of the Malaria and Leishmaniasis Bioassay Platform at Fiocruz/Rondônia, Porto Velho. She was State Coordinator of Rondônia of the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology - REDE BIONOTE (2022-2024) and is currently Vice-Coordinator of this Program. She is also a member of the Permanent Faculty and the Collegiate of the Postgraduate Course Program in Experimental Biology at the Federal University of Rondônia. Currently, she participates in the Brazilian team of a Research Project funded by the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) Organization and is a member of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Research of the National Institute of Epidemiology in the Western Amazon - INCT-EpiAmO. She worked on the team of the Technological Innovation Center (NIT/ Fiocruz RO) from 2014 to 2016. She served as a Full Member of the Animal Use Ethics Committee (CEUA/ Fiocruz/RO) from 2015 to 2020. She was coordinator of PIBIC/PIBIT FIOCRUZ-RO in 2019 - 2021. Member of the Internal Biosafety Committee (CIBio/ Fiocruz RO). She is a Professor at the São Lucas University Center (UNiSL/ Afya) in Porto Velho, RO. She has laboratory experience with emphasis on cell biology techniques (cell culture) and in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo antiparasitic biological assays, mainly involving etiological agents of Leishmaniasis and Malaria. She works on the following topics: Chemotherapy for the treatment of Leishmaniasis and Malaria, and Epidemiology of Leishmaniasis.
