Having graduated in Mathematics at UNESP, Brazil, Júlio undertook postgraduate studies at São Paulo University where his PhD thesis was in the field of statistics and agronomic experimentation. He went on to lecture at the Federal University of São Carlos. At University Kent Julio developed his postdoctoral research in spatial statistics under a Bayesian approach applied to ecological data and at University of Lisbon Julio also developed research in spatial statistics under a Bayesian approach applied to fisheries data (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
