Liliane dos Santos Machado

Full Professor at the Department of Informatics at the Federal University of Paraíba, she completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of São Paulo in 2003. She is affitialted to the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Decision Models and Health, and to the Graduate Program in Informatics at the Federal University of Paraíba. Her main area of expertise is Computer Science, with emphasis on Virtual Reality and serious games for different purposes, with a strong focus on health training. She is the author of the first Brazilian book on Virtual Reality. She is a member of the Virtual Reality Special Comittee of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and was the president of this comittee from June 2014 to November 2018. She coordinates the area of #8203;#8203;virtual reality and serious games at LabTEVE (Laboratory of Technologies for Virtual Teaching and Statistics) at UFPB. Its main areas of expertise are: virtual reality, serious games, procedure evaluation, medical education, haptic systems and educational technology. She has been a CNPq productivity fellow since 2010 with research in the field of virtual reality and games for education and training. In the months between January and July 2013, she carried out a sabatical program at the Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse III). From September to December 2018 she was a visiting professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton / Canada with research in the area of engagement and gameflow in reality systems virtual. From September to December 2023 she was a visiting professor at the Universidad Publica de Navarra in Pamplona / Spain with research in the area of interaction in immersive virtual reality systems. She was a member of the CNPq CA-DT advisory committee from August 2015 to June 2018, reconducted to it from 2022 to 2025. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
