Silvia Helena Barem Rabenhorst

Graduated in Biological Sciences Modality; Degree and bachelors degree from the Basic Institute of Medical and Agricultural Biology of the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho -UNESP, master's and doctorate in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Postdoctoral fellow at Colorado University, School of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology-Health-Science Center. She is a Full Professor of Genetics at the Federal University of Ceará, located at the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine Medical School of Fortaleza. She was the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Medical Microbiology and is currently the UFC Focal Point Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Biotechnology which belongs to the Northeast Biotechnology Network (RENORBIO), acting as an advisor in both courses. She is the head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics-LABGEM, where molecular genetic approaches are applied in studies with polymorphisms and predisposition to cancer and infectious diseases. The oncological studies also focus on the search for molecular markers with prognostic and predictive value, including approaches with NGS technology. Among the cancers studied are breast, oral, brain, lymphomas and mainly gastric cancer, in which the role of the etiological factors Epstein Bark virus (EBV) is also considered.
