Henrique M. Barros holds a PhD in Business Administration from Warwick Business School (UK). He obtained his Master's degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he also graduated (BEng). His training is complemented by courses offered by other institutions such as Harvard Business School, World Intellectual Property Organization, Brazilian Patents and Trademarks Office, and Falconi (a management consulting firm in Brazil). Currently, he is an assistant professor at Dublin City University - DCU (Ireland) and a guest lecturer at the MBA in Management of Innovation and Technological Capability from FGV (Brazil). Before joining DCU, he had already taught in undergraduate, MBA, Masters and Doctoral programmes, and held positions as director of undergraduate and graduate programmes. He was also a member of the Scientific Committee of the National Association of Graduate Courses in Administration (ANGRAD) and had experience as head of an academic department as well as a consultant in strategy, innovation and intellectual property issues. He is an ad hoc reviewer to FAPESP the Research Support Foundation of the State of São Paulo (Brazil), FAPESB - the Research Support Foundation of the State of Bahia (Brazil) and several national and international scientific journals. In addition, Henrique sits on the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration (ANPAD). His research interests lie in understanding i) how organisations capture value from innovation with a particular interest in the use (and non-use) of intellectual property mechanisms; ii) how universities use intellectual property instruments and promote technology transfer; and iii) how firms? governance and scope (e.g. Mergers & Acquisitions) are related to technology and innovation. He has published his research in renowned scientific outlets in Brazil, such as the 'Revista de Administração Contemporânea' (RAC), the 'Brazilian Administration Review' (BAR), and 'Revista de Administração Pública' (RAP), as well as abroad, such as 'Research Policy', 'Technovation' and the 'Journal of Technology Transfer'.
