Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a degree in Medical Physics from the University of São Paulo (2005), a master's (2008), and a Ph.D. (2012) in Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology from the University of São Paulo. I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Brain Institute of UFRN (2012-2016), and a visitor researcher at RWTH Aachen University, Germany (2016). I was an assistant professor at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neurosciences Santos Dumont Institute (2016-2019). Since 2019, I have been a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences - University of Coimbra, Portugal. Currently, my academic interest is focused on the dynamics of sensory processing, with an emphasis on visual object recognition and the development of methods for biomedical signal processing. Throughout my career, I have developed several software tools, such as the InVesalius neuronavigator and the fMROI region of interest creation assistant. I have experience with several techniques used in neuroscience, both in humans (fMRI, TMS, PET, EEG, EMG) and in animal models (extracellular recordings such as LFP and spikes). Additionally, I have experience in the field of computing, including the development and application of machine learning and processing in high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Committed to the training of new professionals, I have supervised 10 masters students (2 ongoing) and 2 Ph.D. students (1 ongoing). Furthermore, I have been dedicated to scientific outreach for over 20 years, strongly believing in the importance of transferring academic knowledge to society and strengthening scientific education.
