Eduardo de Oliveira Melo

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Genetic Modality from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1993), a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1996), and a PhD in Biological Sciences - Molecular Biology from University of Brasília (2003). Postdoctoral degree in Animal Development Biology from the University of Pennsylvania (2011). Principal Investigator (PI) at Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (Cenargen) since 2001. Was member of the National Technique Commission of Biosafety (CTNBio) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (2017-2019). Since 2017, he has been a faculty member of the post-graduate program in Biotechnology at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). Since 2023, he has been a faculty member of the post-graduate program in Animal Biology at the Federal University of Brasília (UnB). He has experience in the area of Animal Molecular Genetics and Developmental Biology, working mainly on the following topics: control of gene expression, developmental biology, molecular markers linked to fertility, biologycal control of infectious agents in livestock, synthetic biology, animal transgenesis and genomic editing.
