Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Instituto de Química (IQ) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Associate Professor at the Institute of Natural Products Research (IPPN) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where she leads the Organic Synthesis Research Group, with projects focused on photocatalysis and bioconjugation. She also participates in interdisciplinary initiatives aimed at the development and certification of certified reference materials (CRMs) for use in forensic laboratories, in collaboration with Inmetro and the Brazilian Federal Police. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and a Ph.D. in Sciences from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), with expertise in Organic Chemistry and a strong focus on Organic Synthesis. During her Master's studies, she worked on pericyclic reactions under the supervision of Prof. Ursula Brocksom. Her Ph.D. research, under the guidance of Prof. Luiz Carlos Dias, was dedicated to the total synthesis of natural products, during which she also completed a research internship at the Max-Planck-Institut (Germany), under the supervision of Prof. Alois Fürstner, working with metal catalysis. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the group of Prof. David MacMillan (Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2021) at Princeton University (USA), focusing on organocatalysis and radical chemistry. She also conducted research in metal catalysis in the group of Prof. Carlos Roque at Unicamp. Most recently, she was a Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge (UK), working on bioconjugation research in the group of Prof. David Spring. She served as coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry of Natural Products at IPPN-UFRJ from 2018 to 2022. A full member of the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) since 2000, she was elected treasurer of the Organic Chemistry Division for the 2022-2024 term and currently serves as vice-director for the 2024-2026 term.
