Maíra Santos (1976) is a teacher, researcher, choreographer, and dancer. She holds a PhD in Dance from the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Lisbon, with a postdoctoral fellowship from the same institution. She is a full member of the Center for Theatre Studies (CET-UL) at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, working in the research line "Discursive Practices in Performing Arts". Currently, she leads the research group "Ethnography and History of Artistic Practices and African Languages" (EHPALA) at Unifesp.Maíra holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from USP and a master's degree in Social Anthropology from Unicamp. She was a Capes fellow in the Full Doctorate Abroad program (2014-2018, Brazil), under the supervision of Gonçalo M. Tavares and mentorship of Márcia Strazzacappa (FE/Unicamp).As a dancer and choreographer, her notable creations include "1 Minute Gesture" at Mostra-Teatro da Malaposta (Portugal, 2013), "Contornos de uma prática de amor" at the 22nd Quinzena de Dança de Almada (Portugal, 2014), "Casa-Árvore" (community art and ecology, 2020/2022), "The Chairs" by E. Ionesco (Portugal, 2021), and "The Fruit That Fell from the Tree" (Portugal, 2021).Maíra has collaborated with artists such as Martim Pedroso Emanuel Sciannamea (Portugal, 2012), Clarice Lima (Brazil, 2013), and Vera Mantero (Portugal, 2014). She regularly teaches contemporary dance and dance-theatre for youth, adults, and children.In 2023, she was awarded a research contract under the Scientific Employment Stimulus Competition (CEEC) of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) Portuguese Republic (https://doi.org/10.54499/2022.03353.CEECIND/CP1762/CT0016). She carried out the project "Contemporary Dramas: Experiences in Performative Ethnography" with the support of the Directorate General for the Arts of the Portuguese Republic (DGArtes, 2022). She is also certified by the Scientific and Pedagogical Council for Continuous Training (Minho) and was part of the trainer panel of the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) in the Aesthetic and Artistic Education Program (PEEA) for the artistic areas of Dance.Email: mairadomar@gmail.com / msantos@letras.ulisboa.pt (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
