Laura Fortes holds BA, MA and PhD degrees in Languages and Literature from the University of São Paulo (USP). She was a visiting PhD research student under supervision of Professor Alastair Pennycook at University of Technology, Sydney. She is currently Dean for Reasearch and Professor of Portuguese and English as additional languages at the Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA). She was in charge of the Department of Core Curriculum (2020-2021), as well as of the Languages without Borders Program (NucLi-IsF) at UNILA (2016-2019). She has been a researcher in the Interdisciplinary Center for Language and Interculturality Studies (NIELI-UNILA) since 2018. She is a member of three Research Groups: Foreign Language, Discourse and Identity (LEDI - USP); and Language, Politics and Citizenship (UNILA). Her main research interests lie in French Discourse Analysis and Critical Applied Linguistics, focusing on the following topics: language teaching; bilingualism; multilingualism; translanguaging; curriculum; language policies; and internationalization of Higher Education.
