Graduada em História pela Universidade de São Paulo, possui Mestrado (2000) e Doutorado (2006) na mesma instituição. Desde 2011, é professora da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), onde leciona na graduação e na pós-graduação. Desenvolveu estágios de pesquisa na Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) e na Università di Roma "La Sapienza". Foi professora visitante da Universitat Jaume I (Espanha), no Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo do México (ITAM), na Universidade Jean Jaurés (Toulouse), na University of Texas (Austin, EUA), na Universidad del Pais Vasco (UPV, Bilbao) e na Universidade do Espírito Santo (UFES). É especialista em História do Brasil, entre os séculos XVIII e XIX, com ênfase no processo das reformas ilustradas, da Independência e da formação do Estado nacional. Atualmente suas principais temáticas são análises das instituições e da justiça - especialmente as formas processuais, inclusive dos tribunais mercantis -, numa interface entre história e direito, com interesse cada vez maior em uma história integrada com a América ibérica. Foi editora chefe da Revista Almanack (www.scielo.br/alm) de 2019 a 2021, e da Revista Brasileira de História (RBH), entre 2021 a 2023. É Bolsista Produtividade em Pesquisa CNPq (nível 2), e representante dos periódicos da área de Ciências Humanas na SciELO (mandado 2024 a 2026) (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
