Carla Kazue Nakao Cavaliero

I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and M.Sc and Ph.D. in Energy Systems Planning from University of Campinas (UNICAMP). I'm currently an associate professor in Department of Energy at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in UNICAMP. I've been working in energy production with renewable alternatives such as biomass, solar photovoltaic and wind power, in its various aspects ( technological, economic, regulatory, social and environmental). Focus has been given to issues involving the sustainable production and use of biofuels, which have been evaluated using Life Cycle Assessment tool. Besides that I also have worked on use of this sources for production of hydrogen and use in fuel cells, aiming at its application in vehicles and distributed power generation. All these activities have been carried out within projects of research and development (R D) with energy companies, both public (Eletronorte) and private (AES Tietê, CPFL, etc..), and with national and international research agencies (FAPESP, CNPq, Fundep, Finep, CONACYT etc.).
