Born in 1968, in São Francisco do Sul, SC. Medical Degree at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (1988-1993). Residency in Neurology at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (1994-1996). PhD in Biological Sciences / Biochemistry at UFRGS (1997-2000). Brazilian Board certification in Intensive Care Medicine (1999) and Clinical Neurophysiology (2001). Clinical Fellow in Neurophysiology and Epilepsy Surgery at the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of FMRP-USP (2000-2003), where he obtained the degree of Professor in Neurology (2003) and was a master's and doctoral advisor (2001-2008). Member of the commission of implementation of the Ph.D. Program in Medical Sciences of UFSC (2008). He has been Full Professor of the Medical Clinic Department of UFSC since 2004 where he held the positions of sub-head (2010) and head and sub-head (2011). Since 2019 is the coordinator of the Internal Medicine course in the undergraduate medical program. Founder and Program Coordinator of the first Center for Epilepsy Surgery of the State of Santa Catarina (CEPESC) at the Governador Celso Ramos Hospital (2008-2014), and conceived and coordinated the implantation of the Applied Neuroscience Center (CeNAp) at the UFSC University Hospital (CT-INFRA-FINEP) Coordinates the Network for Excellence in Applied Neurosciences of Santa Catarina (NENASC), funded by PRONEX-FAPESC/CNPq and Research Projects for the SUS (PPSUS). He did a sabbatical in Deep Brain Stimulation for a year at the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurosurgery, University of Florida (Gainesville, USA) (2014-2015). In 2017 he did a 3-month visit to the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI in Adelaide, Australia). He is consultant of CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP, FAPEMIG, Ministry of Health FINEP, Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science, Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (Spain), Catalan Agency for Health Technology Assessments Research (Spain), Alzheimer's Research (United Kingdom). He is a reviewer of several periodicals of national and international circulation. It works in innovation projects applied to medical devices in neurology and psychiatry and have one patent registration (BR 10 2018 000939 7). Since 2004 I have been the scientific mentor of 43 undergraduate, 23 masters, 26 Ph.D., and 12 post-doctorate students.Vice-coordinator of the Graduate program o Medical Sciences (2019-2023) and actual coordinator (since 2025/2). Researcher level 1A of CNPq. Actually is vice-coordenator of the graduate program in Medical Sciences (Ms and PhD) of UFSC (2019 to 2023). I have experience in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy and Neurobiology Surgery, teaching and research. Until January 2026 published 246 papers (229 indexed in the PubMed), with 10440 citations and an "H" Index of 55 in the Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com.br/citations?user=BgJe_MMAAAAJhl=pt-BR) (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
