His expertise encompasses forest-based bioenergy, charcoal, wood chemistry, and non-wood forest products, with over 240 scientific and technological articles published. Performed postdoctoral studies at the University of Nancy - Henry Poincaré, France, where also worked as an Associate Professor. Former Academic Visitor at Imperial College in London, England. He taked part in the Executive Council of the Brazilian Technical Association of Pulp and Paper - ABTCP. He has providing various guidance and consultancy services to companies and public and private entities..Currently, is member of the Advisory and Business Council (CCCE) of CoLAB ForestWISE - Portugal and the Executive Director of the Forest Research and Studies Institute IPEF - Brazil.
