She was a visiting professor and researcher at the universities of Leiden, Oxford, Brown, Columbia (as Tinker Professor), Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Science Sociales. Received a scholarship from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellow (2006/7); Júlio Ribeiro Medal (ABL, 2008); Commendation of the National Order of National Scientific Merit (2010), Woman of Ideias (J.B,2008), member of the Advisory group - Harvard University (until 2012), had her lecture selected as "John H Parry Lecture at Harvard of 2010"; the Rui Barbosa Medal (FioCruz, 2017), Humboldt Research Award,Germany 2022/23 and Medal of the Order of Rio Branco (2023).
