Undergraduated in Medicine from Botucatu Medical School of São Paulo State University (Unesp) in 1977, São Paulo, Brazil; specializing in Tropical Medicine by the School of Medicine of University of São Paulo (1979); Master (MSc 1984) and Doctor (Ph D 1986) in Internal Medicine by Unesp. He was an Associate (1993) and now is a Full Professor (1999) of Infectious Diseases at Botucatu Medical School (Unesp), São Paulo, Brazil. Currently is a Researcher at The Center for the Study of Venoms and Venomous Animals (Cevap) at Unesp; Emeritus Editor of The Journal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases (www.jvat.org) Impact Factor Web of Science, JCR 2025 =1.8, CiteScore Scopus 2025 = 4.7, 2-year Cites/Doc Scopus 2025 = 1.93, First quartile (Q1) at Animal Science and Zoology; and Full Professor at Botucatu Medical School (Unesp). He has experience in Toxinology, Tropical Medicine, Clinical Research, and Scientific Publishing working mainly in the following Disciplines: Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Toxinology (envenomations by venomous animals), Clinical Research (clinical trials), Scientific writing, and scientific publishing. Founder and Director of The Center for the Study of Venoms and Venomous Animals (Cevap) at Unesp in 1993-1997, 2006-2014, and 2018-2021), Pro-Dean of University Extension (2001-2004), and President of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors - ABEC (2008- 2012). In 2005 he became the coordinator of the Research Group on Toxinology certified by Unesp and CNPq. In 2014 approved and became deputy coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology of Wildlife Science Center (WSC), CNPq 465429/2014-9. Until 2020, he coordinated two phase I/II clinical trials, respectively titled: Use of heterologous fibrin sealant in the treatment of chronic ve-nous ulcers, and, Use of the novel apilic antivenom to treat massive Africanized honeybee (Apis mellifera) attacks. Both trials were completed and results were published in 2021 in a peer-reviewed journal with a high impact factor. In 2018, the Brazilian Ministry of Health approved the construction of the first Brazilian Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) named V-BioPharma, which was inaugurated on June 13, 2024. In 2019, he was appointed as a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and in 2021 as a Correspondiente Extranjero de la Real Academia Nacional de Farmacia de España. Between 2021 and 2024 he was an Fellow Researcher (PQ-2) of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq 306339/2020-0); in 2022 he approved the Center for Translational Science and Biopharmaceuticals Development (CTS-Cevap), with support from the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp 2021/11936-3) becoming its Director, and in 2025 he approved the Institute for Development and Manufacturing of Biosimilars (INCT), with support from the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) (CNPq 408284/2024-2), becom-ing its Vice Director.
