Agronomist (class of 1983) from ESALQ-USP. He holds a master's degree (1989) and a doctorate(1994) both in Soils and Plant Nutrition by ESALQ. Postdoctoral in Soil Geochemistry and Pedogenesis at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) (1997-1999). Full Professor in Pedology at the University of São Paulo since 2007. His experience as a lecturer, researcher and consultant is in Pedology, with an emphasis on Genesis, Morphology and Classification of Soils in different regions of the Brazilian territory, acting mainly on the following themes: soil formation (pedogenesis), soil-landscape relations (pedology -geomorphology-geology), soil micromorphology and soil mineralogy.
