Marcilio Carlos Pereira de Souto

Marcilio C. P. de Souto received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science, respectively, in 1992 and 1995 from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) - Brazil, and the Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Imperial College, London (UK), in 1999. He was an associate professor at UFRN. He spent one year as a visiting researcher at the Department of Computational Biology of the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin, Germany. Recently, he was a visiting professor at UFPE. At the moment, he works as professeur at the Université d'Orléans (France). He is a senior member of the IEEE. Dr. de Souto, so far, have published more than 10 papers in journals and more than 50 papers in international conferences. Fourteen M.Sc. theses and two Ph.D. dissertations have been completed under his supervision. His main research topic is Machine Learning, with focus on Cluster Analysis, Hybrid Intelligent Systems, and Bioinformatics. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
