Pedro Paulo Zahluth Bastos

He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the State University of Campinas (1993), a master's degree in Political Science from the State University of Campinas (1996), and a doctorate in Economics from the State University of Campinas (2001). He was president of the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Economic History (ABPHE) between 2009 and 2011, and head of the Department of Political Economy and Economic History at the Institute of Economics, State University of Campinas, between 2008 and 2012. He was a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley (2017-8). Since 2002, he has been teaching at the Institute of Economics at the State University of Campinas, where he is currently a full professor. He has experience in the field of Economics and Political Economy, with an emphasis on Economic Growth and Development, Political Economy of Economic Policy, Contemporary Brazilian Economy, and Economic Formation of Brazil. He is a member of Rede Poulantzas Brasil (https://poulantzasbrasil.com.br/). Internationally, at the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), he is a member of Network B, Globalization and Socio-Economic Development, where he coordinated the conferences Inclusive Solidarities: Reimagining Boundaries in Divided Times; and Imperialism, uneven and combined development, and dependency under neoliberal capitalism in the last two years (2024 and 2025). He was president and vice president of CECON-Unicamp (2020-2024) and is currently coordinator of the Center for Economic History (NIHE) at Unicamp.
