He was the chair professor of the Josué de Castro Chair at the Faculty of Public Health at USP (September 2022 August 2024), where he is now an associate researcher. Professor in the Department of Economics at FEA/USP for thirty years. Full Professor since 2001. Senior Professor in the Environmental Science Program at the Institute of Energy and Environment at USP (since 2016).Author of Infrastructure for Sustainable Development in the Amazon (Ed. Elefante, 2022), Amazon: Towards a Knowledge Economy of Nature (Elefante/Terceira Via/Outras Palavras), Beyond the Green Economy (Ed. Planeta Sustentável/Abril, São Paulo, 2012), revised and published by Routledge (London) in 2016 under the same title. Lead co-author of the chapter on Bioeconomy in the Science Panel for the Amazon.
