Karcius Day Rosario Assis

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba, currently UFCG, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Served as a visiting professor at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, from September 2021 to August 2022. Was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, from February 2015 to January 2016. Worked as a "Visiting Fellow" at the University of Essex, United Kingdom, in March 2018. Received the "Alan Turing Institute Post-Doctoral Enrichment Award" in 2021, in the United Kingdom, for studies on artificial intelligence in network planning. Previously an adjunct professor at the Federal University of ABC, he is currently an associate professor at the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Bahia, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Reviewer for journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research (0377-2217) and IEEE Communications Letters. Member of the Brazilian Society of Telecommunications and Signal Processing (SBrT), Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), and Brazilian Society of Optics and Photonics (SBFoton). He was the general coordinator of the IPOC SBFoton 2024 event and is the general coordinator of SBrT 2026. He has experience in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with an emphasis on Telecommunication Systems, Computer Networks, Computing Systems, and Optimization.
