Eduardo Alexandrino Servolo de Medeiros (Medeiros EA or Medeiros E), MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (EPM-Unifesp) and Head of Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the Hospital São Paulo, Unifesp. Dr. Medeiros received his medical degree (1985) and completed his Infectious Diseases Residency (1989), fellowship, PhD (1993). He was nominated by a public contest at Escola Paulista de Medicina, Unifesp, as Professor of Infectious Diseases (2004-Current). He currently holds the position of Associate Professor, participating as a leader in university teaching and research activities and research projects on COVID-19, Hospital Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and antimicrobial resistance prevention. He works on healthcare-associated infections including investigations of nosocomial outbreaks, COVID-19, antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship programs, occupational health, and medical education. He is the author of several research and reviewed papers including book chapters and has received several awards for his work. He is currently an active member of many professional and governmental organizations including the President of São Paulo Infectious Diseases Society (2017-2019 and 2020 - 2021), Member of Hospital Infection Prevention and Control Committee of the Brazilian Infectious Diseases Society, advisor to the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) and Member of Hospital Infection Prevention and Control of National Committee (CNCIRAS) and IPC - Epidemiological Surveillance Center of the São Paulo State (CECIRAS), member of Infectious Disease Society of America.
