I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), with a PhD in Zoology from UNESP, Rio Claro campus, and completed an internship at Texas AM University, in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences, College Station, TX. I conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Ecology at UNESP/Rio Claro. Currently, I am Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at UNIFESP (Baixada Santista) and a supervisor in the Graduate Program in Marine and Coastal Biodiversity and Ecology at the Institute of the Sea. My expertise focuses on statistical models and quantitative ecology applied to fish populations and communities, species diversity patterns in aquatic ecosystems, with an emphasis on coastal basins.
