He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (1992-1995), a master's degree (1996-1998), and a doctorate in Zoology (2000-2004) from the same university. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of São Paulo (2005-2008) and at the University of Adelaide in Australia (2008-2009). From 2012 to 2014, he served as the Vice Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Environmental Biology at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). He was an advisor to the Dean of International Relations at UFPA from 2019 to 2021 and was an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (Young Doctor category) from 2012 to 2016. Currently, he is an Associate Professor IV at the Institute of Coastal Studies at UFPA's Bragança University Campus and serves as the Vice Director of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at UFPA. He also acts as an ad hoc consultant for various national and international journals, including Systematic Parasitology, Folia Parasitologica, Journal of Parasitology, Journal of Helminthology, International Journal for Parasitology, Acta Amazonica, and Zoologia, among others. Additionally, he served as the editor of the Symbiosis section of the journal Zoologia from 2008 to 2017.His research expertise lies in Zoology, with a focus on Taxonomy, Phylogenetic Systematics, and the Historical Reconstruction of parasitic platyhelminths in the Class Monopisthocotyla (also known as Monogenoidea/Monogenea).
