Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Campus São Paulo. Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Biomedical Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) in 2005, she holds a Masters degree (2008) and a PhD (2012) from the Department of Psychobiology at UNIFESP. Between 2010 and 2011, she completed a doctoral research internship at Wake Forest University, USA. She conducted her first postdoctoral training at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of São Paulo (USP), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH (20132018), USA. This academic background provided extensive experience in the study of impulsive behavior and habit formation, as well as the use of transgenic animals and techniques such as electrophysiology and photometry to investigate the basal ganglia and the neurobiological effects of alcohol. She has extensive experience in the fields of Neurophysiology and Psychobiology. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at UNIFESP and advises students in the Graduate Program in Psychobiology. Her research interests include the neurobiology of decision-making, particularly risky decision-making, and how alcohol affects these behaviors. She employs techniques such as pharmacology, immunofluorescence, cellular electrophysiology, optogenetics, chemogenetics, photometry, and behavioral analysis to unravel the cascade of neural events associated with risk-based choices. She is also interested in the scientific understanding of how neuroscience knowledge is applied in the fields of Marketing and Economics. She consistently seeks to integrate scientific development with science communication and has founded several outreach platforms, including Prisma Científico, Eureka Brasil, and more recently, NeuroAthens.Visit the lab website: https://www.abrahaolab.com/ (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
