He holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Amazonas (2000), a specialization in Biotechnology from the Federal University of Lavras (2005), a Ph.D. in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of São Paulo School of Engineering of Lorena (2004), and a Postdoctoral fellowship in Biotechnology from Cranfield University, UK (2014). He has worked as a Biotechnologist at the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) since 2009. His research focuses on the fungal production of bioactive compounds of pharmaceutical interest (including antifungals, biosurfactants, and colorants) and the development of molecular tools applied to the diagnosis and characterization of agents causing invasive mycoses. He has authored 91 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UFAM, the Bionorte Graduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology, and the Graduate Program in Genetics, Conservation, and Evolutionary Biology at INPA. He has supervised 9 Ph.D. theses, co-supervised 3 Ph.D. theses, advised 24 Master's dissertations, and mentored 37 undergraduate research projects. Currently, he supervises 6 Ph.D. students, 5 Master's students, and 2 undergraduate researchers. In terms of scientific and technological contributions to innovation, he has participated in the development of four biotechnological processes. Regarding project management, he currently coordinates four projects funded by FAPEAM and one by CNPq. He is also responsible for the Mycology Laboratory at INPA. He has received several honors and awards: in 2009, he was invited to become an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and received an Honorable Mention from the Brazilian Senate; in 2014, he received the Sebastião Ferreira Marinho Award from the Regional Pharmacy Council of Amazonas (CRF-AM); and in 2019, he received an Honorable Mention from the City Council of Belém.
