German diploma in Biology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (1978) and Ph.D. in Genetics at Cornell University (1988). Main research fields are in microbial genetics, focusing on molecular genetics, having worked in research projects on bacteriophage T7, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Proteus mirabilis, heat shock protein 65 of Mycobacterium leprae at the University of São Paulo. Was a collaborator in the molecular characterization of the enzyme endooligopeptidase A of mammalian nervous tissue. At present the main focusses are the physiological role of proline-rich peptides from snake venom on mammalian systems, and pharamaceutical innovation in Brazil. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
