Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas (ICB) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Tiago Antonio received his B.Sc. in Biology in 2007 and his Master degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2010 both from Unicamp. He joined the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory in 2006 under the supervision of Dr. Celso E. Benedetti, where he investigated how bacterial proteins interacts with host proteins that could lead to disease symptoms in plants, developing a strong background in molecular cloning, protein expression, and structural/functional biochemistry. For four years Tiago was a professor of General Chemistry and Biochemistry teaching classes for first and second-year undergrad students. He was Research Specialist at the University of Sao Paulo where he helped to implement and maintain the Center of Facilities to Support Research and its genomic data generating hub which provides cutting-edge NGS services and bioinformatic support to a dozen of research groups and its partners. In 2014 he started his Ph.D. in Biotechnology in USP under supervision of Prof. Carlos Menck and Dr. Silvia Massironi with a main research focus on mice genomics, variant discovery and search/assessment of mutational profiles using NGS.
