I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health at the School of Public Health, University of São Paulo (USP). From September 2021 to August 2022, I served as a visiting researcher at the University of York, United Kingdom. I hold a PhD in Environment and Society from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp-2010), a Master's degree in Science and Technology Policy from the Institute of Geosciences at Unicamp (2006), a specialization in Scientific Journalism from Unicamp (2004), and a degree in Social Communication - Journalism from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp-2001). I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Environmental Studies and Research (NEPAM - Unicamp) between 2011 and 2013. I also conducted a doctoral internship in 2009 at the Institute of Hazard, Risk, and Resilience (Durham University, UK) and a research internship at Stuttgart University, Germany, in 2012. I serve as deputy coordinator of the Environment and Society Research Group at the Institute of Advanced Studies at USP, the Center for Sustainable Amazon Studies (CEAS), and the CIRIS Research Group on Governance, Risk, and Communication. I am a permanent researcher at INCLINE/USP, where I lead the research area Cities, Vulnerabilities, and Climate Change. Additionally,I am a member of the Scientific Coordination of the Biota Fapesp Program and the coordinator of the PPG Global Health and Sustainability. I am a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo (ACIESP). Since 2024, I am member of the Steering Group of the URBAN Prediction Project of the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) - World Meteorological Organization (WMO). My research areas include: Crises, Risks, and Uncertainties; Interactions between Science, Politics, Communication, and Society; Human Dimensions of Climate Change; and Global Health and Sustainability.
