Luiz Carlos Zeferino is a Full Professor of Gynecology in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the School of Medical Sciences of the University of Campinas (Unicamp). Training with internships abroad in 1981 and 1982: Universitá Degli Studi Firenzi (Florence-Italy); Hospital Regionale du Cancer (Marseille-France); Clinical Science Center The University of Wisconsin University (Wisconsin-USA). He has published more than 200 articles in specialized journals, 32 book chapters and 2 books. He has supervised 33 master's and 23 doctoral theses. He has received 33 awards and/or honors. He has also held several administrative activities, including Dean of the School of Medical Sciences of Unicamp from 2018 to 2022, Head of the Hospital de Clínicas of Unicamp (2005-2010), Executive Director of the Center for Comprehensive Care for Women's Health - CAISM of Unicamp (2004-2013) and Technical-Scientific Director of the Oncocentro Foundation of São Paulo (FOSP) (1987-1991). He has established international cooperation with Matthew James Ellis of Baylor College of Medicine (Houston-USA); Laurie Ellit from McMaster University (Ontario-Canada) with funding from the Canadian Institute of Health Research; Kari J. Syrjänen from the University of Turku, (Turku-Finland), Fernando Schmitt from the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto (Porto-Portugal); Raul Ribeiro from the Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis-USA). He is currently a member of the EC-CvC Expert Pool of the European Commission Initiative on Cervical Cancer of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO).
