Kauê Lopes dos Santos is a Professor at the Institute of Geosciences at the University of Campinas (IG-UNICAMP). He served as a Visiting Researcher at the Latin American and Caribbean Centre of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LACC-LSE) from 2019 to 2023 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of São Paulo (IEE-USP) from 2018 to 2021. He earned his Ph.D. in Human Geography from the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages, and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP) in 2017, during which he was a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Geography at the University of California, Berkeley (UC-Berkeley) from 2015 to 2016. He holds a Masters degree in Habitat from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP), awarded in 2011. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Geography from FFLCH-USP and a Geography Teaching Degree from the Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo (FE-USP), both obtained in 2007. Since the beginning of his academic career, his research has focused on political, economic, urban, and environmental issues related to the territories of the Global South, particularly in Latin America and Africa.
