Graduated in Communication Sciences (Journalism, 1990), master (2001) and doctorate (2006) in Communication Sciences, all from the University of Sao Paulo. In 2014 was a visiting scholar and a post-doctoral researcher in Semiotics at the University of Indiana (USA). The current president of the Brazilian Society of Cognitive Science (SBCC). Also a member of the International Advisory Committee of the Charles S. Peirce Society, and the journal Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society. The project aims to research the logical and mathematical foundations of a general theory of signs proposed by Charles Peirce in order to propose a pragmatic theory of communication that takes into account the semiotic concept of information, systems theory and self-organization. (AU)
