Abstract This research proposal aims to discuss the idea of having to Peircean semiotics as a rationale for photographic production. It will be taken into account two important steps for the realization of this research: a theoretical stage and an empirical stage. Therefore, I intend to study at the theoretical stage, the Peircean semiotic theory, fundamental to compose a solid theoretical orientation. The concepts and theoretical reflections of Charles Sanders Peirce directly contribute to the debate about the responsibilities inherent to photography, as its appearance of signs and indexical, for example. In the empirical stage, I will use copyright material produced by myself - and by other photographers - with proper authorization, and I will follow research projects at the University of São Paulo (USP) - the two most important being: the project from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at USP (FCF), the Scientific Journey (JCAFB), and the research work on cetaceans, developed by Prof. Marcos Santos at the Institute of Oceanography of the USP (IOUSP). This material will be fundamental for the reflection on the practice of photography.(AU) | |
