He holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from the Federal University of Lavras (2003), a Master's degree in Animal Science from the University of São Paulo (2006), a PhD in Sciences (area: development, characterization and application of materials) from the EESC-IQSC-IFSC Interunit Program of the University of São Paulo, with a 6-month post-doctorate from Embrapa Agricultural Instrumentation, and a 12-month post-doctorate from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA, Albany, CA, USA). He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Forestry Sciences at the Federal University of Lavras, acting as Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Biomaterials Engineering (PPGBIOMAT/UFLA) between 2019-2024, and also supervises master's and doctoral students in the Postgraduate Program in Wood Science and Technology (PPGCTM/UFLA). He is a member of the Brazilian Society of Wood Science and Technology (SBCTEM), TAPPI, and ABTCP. He is a member of the executive board of ABTCP, and was a member of the Advisory Board in the area of #8203;#8203;Agriculture of FAPEMIG, and a member of the Advisory Board in the area of #8203;#8203;Architecture and Engineering of FAPEMIG. He has recently participated in missions as a Visiting Professor in Pakistan (COMSAT, Lahore), Denmark (UK, Copenhagen), Italy (Ca'Foscari University of Venice) and Spain (Universidad de Sevilla). He was scientific editor of the CERNE Journal (UFLA, Lavras) and contributes as a reviewer in more than 30 international scientific journals. He has experience in the industrial application of cellulose, involving functionalization of cellulosic fibers, with emphasis on fiber-reinforced materials and components. The main objectives include: paper fibers, recycled fibers, cellulosic pulps, microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), cellulose nanofibers, lignocellulosic materials, cellulosic films, fiber cement, lignocellulosic panels, particle panels, rural construction and ambiance, non-conventional construction materials, smart packaging, cellulose-based composite materials, materials for biosystems, functionalization of fiber surfaces, biodegradable materials and sustainability.
