Jean de Paula Ferreira

Graduated in Physical Therapy in 2012 from the Municipal Foundation for Education and Culture of Santa Fé do Sul, with specialization in Cardiopulmonary and Pulmonary Functional Physical Therapy. Also specialized in Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, with practical experience in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and liver and kidney transplant units at FAMERP/Hospital de Base de São José do Rio Preto, where also served as a preceptor in the Advanced Training Program in Surgical and Clinical ICU Physical Therapy (2021).Earned a Masters degree (2016) and a Ph.D. (2021) in Physical Therapy from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), with a focus on Musculoskeletal Plasticity. During the Ph.D., completed a sandwich doctorate at the Department of Physical Therapy at New York University (NYU), in New York City, USA, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). During this period, participated in the project "Reversing Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Through Exercise", funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (R01, 07/01/2018 06/30/2020), with a total investment of US$ 1,468,323.Currently serves as a Tenured Assistant Professor (Adjunto A) in the Department of Physical Therapy at the State University of the Center-West (UNICENTRO), responsible for teaching Cardiovascular Physical Therapy and Respiratory Physical Therapy, and for supervising internships in Hospital and ICU Physical Therapy.Research interests include rehabilitation, human biomechanics, and the assessment and treatment of patients with metabolic and chronic diseases across different levels of healthcare. Also has a strong interest in higher education management, institutional strategic planning, and academic internationalization.Teaching experience includes Human Anatomy for Medicine (both in traditional and PBL formats), Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, and Nursing programs, as well as Neuroscience for Psychology.
