Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos (EESC)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Colômbia

Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Institute of the Federal University of Itajubá - UNIFEI. Graduated in Civil Engineering - Universidad Industrial de Santander (2000-2005). Master's degree student in Structural Engineering - EESC, USP (2006-2008). PhD candidate in Structural Engineering EESC (2009), USP. Has experience in Civil Engineering, with emphasis on numerical methods applied to Structural Engineering. During his master's degree he carried out research related to singular problems of elasticity theory. During his Ph.D. he carried out research activities related to the application of the positional finite element method for the non-linear dynamic analysis of petroleum extraction structures called Pipelines and Risers. He conducted his post-doctoral studies in biomechanics using the finite element method for structural simulation of muscles and dental structures. Currently researches in the area of metamaterials applied to aerodynamic structures, dynamics of structures, fluid dynamic simulation and biomechanics. He has developed technological projects with funding agencies, with internal funding and with funding from industry. Noteworthy are projects to generate software for structural simulation, projects with numerical simulations of explosions and design of explosion containment structures, generation of technologies for the visually impaired (3D maps and positioning applications), assembly of 3D printers, improvement of bladeless fans, among others. As a product of the research and extension projects, Professor Jesús has developed several patents in dissipative structures with metamaterials and fluid dynamic mechanisms and has already an incubated company in the assembly and design of 3D printers. He created, along with other UNIFEI professors the research group TIES (Integrated Technologies and Sustainable Engineering) of which he is leader and works widely in the three lines of the group (Structures and Metamaterials, Fluid dynamics and turbo machines, Eco engineering). The work developed in research and extension has managed to integrate institutions and national and international researchers. Mainly, the professor has developed works with EESC/USP, LNA, UIS (Colombia), Javeriana (Colombia) and UNILA and is developing researches with the University of Napoli (Italy) and Zetalab Acoustics Laboratory (Italy). At DTECS he teaches the discipline of Technologies Applied to Earth Construction. In DTECS he works mainly in the line of Solidarity Economy Applied to Earth Constructions and in the Development of Mobile Applications and Tools for the Positioning of Visually Impaired People. At the undergraduate level he teaches finite elements, solid dynamics, solid mechanics and strength of materials. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
