BSc (1999), MSc (2001), and Ph.D. (2006) in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP), with emphasis on power systems. He is an associate professor at EPUSP (2023) and coordinator of the Research Laboratory for Protection and Automation of Electrical Systems at that university (LPROT). He develops research on topics related to the protection, control, and automation of electrical power systems, having worked on more than twenty research projects with Brazilian public financing agencies and under the research and development program of the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). He is the author and reviewer of papers for highly selective editorial policy journals and international and Brazilian conferences. He currently contributes to research on time domain protection of electrical power systems, mainly for transmission lines, reactive support equipment, and smart grids. Besides, he investigates the impact of electronic converters on the performance of protection and automation systems. He is also actively developing new solutions for locating faults in transmission lines and distribution networks and high-impedance faults. In the current context of modernization and digitalization, he is interested in asset management solutions and studying the impact of new technologies on the operation of electrical power systems.
