Graduated in Nursing and Obstetrics from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1986), Master's in Education from the Federal University of Santa Maria (1994) and Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of São Paulo -EERP-Ribeirão Preto (1998). She was the Director of the Faculty of Nursing at UFPel between September 2006 and December 2014. Currently Full Professor at the Federal University of Pelotas. Visiting professor at the Università degli Studi di Torino/UNITO - Italy (Senior Internship abroad supported by CAPES) in 2015. Visiting researcher at UNITO - Italy in 2019.
