I am currently an Associate Professor in the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities at the University of São Paulo where I coordinate the AMPhyBio Lab (Applied Mathematics and Biological Physics Laboratory). Between September 2018 and April 2019, I was a Tinker Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago. I did my postdoctoral studies (CNPq, 2009) at the Reinitz Fly Lab based in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and the Center for Molecular Medicine, Stony Brook University, NY, USA. I have a PhD (CNPq, 2008) and a Master's degree (CAPES, 2004) in Theoretical Physics, both from the Mathematical Methods in Molecular Sciences Group of the Institute of Physics of Sao Carlos, University of São Paulo. I graduated in Physics from the Federal University of São Carlos in 2001. I have experience in Mathematical Physics, Group Theory, Stochastic Methods, Control Theory, Computational Simulation and Computer Vision applied to Molecular Biology, in particular to the Regulation of Gene Expression during the Segmentation of D. melanogaster Embryos and Cancer Biology. I have been applying Statistical Learning (or Machine Learning) methods to analyze research data in Health, Biomedicine and Molecular Biology. I also work in High Performance Computing, investigating applications of Lie Groups and Graph Theory to the design of Topologies and Architectures of Supercomputers and development of parallel optimization algorithms. Recently I became interested in research in quantum technologies and have been developing an access interface to the Brazilian quantum computer based on nuclear magnetic resonance, developed at LEAR/IFSC/USP. I have experience in community service outreach by providing scientific outreach on nuclear energy. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
