Associate Professor at the Biosciences Institute of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) since 2002. He teaches ecology at the undergraduate level and participates in three graduate programs: Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation (PPGECB), Water Resources (PPGRH) and Biotechnology and Biodiversity (PPGBB). His current research interests focus on the impacts of hydroelectric dams on river systems with a focus on the Pantanal, pollution of hydrological systems by microplastics, use of network analysis in environmental sciences and perception/adaptation to climate change. He started his academic career at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), coordinating an international cooperation project on the Liptako fractured aquifers in Niger - Africa. Then he went to the National Institute for Space Research (INPe) in São José dos Campos to study the effects of biomass burning on the chemistry of the atmosphere. In Mato Grosso, he participated in the creation of the Pantanal Research Center (CPP) where he works as an honorary researcher. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
