Simone Monteiro e Silva is an Adjunct Professor IV in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology of the University of Brasília (UnB). She holds a jointly awarded Ph.D. with titles of Doctor in Food Engineering (State University of Campinas, Brazil) and Doctor in Applied Biological Sciences: Chemistry (Ghent University, Belgium). She has experience in the study of agro-industrial raw material processing, focusing mainly on the following topics: Energy from plant sources and integration of traditional processes into biorefineries, and thermodynamics applied to phase equilibrium. She is an Associate Researcher at the São Paulo Center for Studies on Energy Transition (CPTEn); a member of the Oils and Fats Technical Group (GTFO), coordinated by the General Food Management of ANVISA, which deals with issues related to oils and fats under discussion within the framework of the Codex Alimentarius (FAO/WHO).
