Associate Professor in the Department of Soil Science at ESALQ-USP, specializing in Soil Management and Health. Agronomist (Federal University of Santa Maria - UFSM, 2006-2011), Bachelor of Business Administration (Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC, 2007-2012), Master of Agronomy (PPG in Agronomy: Agriculture and Environment - UFSM, 2011-2013), Doctor of Science, concentration in Soils and Plant Nutrition (Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture / University of São Paulo - ESALQ/USP, 2013-2016). He served as a visiting researcher at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE), Ames-IA, USA (2015). Postdoctoral Fellow (2016-2018) at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA/USP) - Environmental Biogeochemistry Laboratory. He supervises the Graduate Program in Soils and Plant Nutrition (ESALQ/USP) and coordinates the Soil Health Management Research Group - SOHMA. He teaches courses in Agronomy, Forest Engineering, and Environmental Management. His research aims to quantify and understand the impacts of land use and management practices on soil health, carbon dynamics, productivity, and the resilience of natural and agricultural ecosystems.He has traveled to 25 countries and has actively participated in scientific cooperation networks (projects and/or publications) with researchers from various Brazilian institutions (e.g., CNPEM, UFRGS, UFC, UFPR, UFMG, UEM, UFSM, UNICAMP, Embrapa, among others) and foreign institutions, including countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Colombia, and Australia. He is deputy general coordinator and research director of the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP). He is deputy director of the Nature Based Solutions (NBS) program at the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI). He coordinates the Brazilian Soil Health Partnership. He is a Research Productivity Fellow - CNPq and an Affiliate Member of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He received the Bunge Foundation Youth Award in 2022 (Agricultural Sciences - carbon credit and regenerative agriculture). From 2021 to 2025, he has been listed as one of the most influential researchers in global science.
