I have experience in the field of Linguistics with an emphasis on Sociolinguistics, Semiotics, Digital Ethnography, and Language Contact.I previously developed an epistemological comparison of different linguistic levels of theories involving indexicals (deixis and demonstratives) and definite descriptions under the scope of Semantics and Pragmatics formal studies. Currently, though, I am focused on phenomena involving Language Change, Contact, and Variation in both social networks and face-to-face interactions. In general, I comprehend languages as mobile resources, and I am mostly concerned with language contact and other linguistic phenomena induced by the presence and diaspora of Brazilian and/or Lusophone communities worldwide. I am especially interested in linguistic variation produced by Brazilians through and owing to their migration movements. I take particular notice of linguistic phenomena produced by Lusophone communities through migration movements to traditionally non-Portuguese language contexts, such as, for example, Brazilian migration to Japan and the development of Dekasegi Portuguese. I am also interested in sociolinguistic phenomena associated with political and economic factors, Global North-South dynamics, and their reverberations, which include the expansion of the Korean Wave and Cool Japan in Latin America, mainly in Brazil. In other words, I take special notice of the distinct language uses of Brazilian communities in social media associated with the consumption of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese media and products (music, series, movies, games, fashion, skincare, etc). In addition to topics involving languages in contact in general, I also have a particular interest in the development of creolistics studies, especially in Portuguese-based creole or pidgin languages, such as Makista (Macanese Patois, Macanese Creole), in Macau, China.
