He has a degree in veterinary medicine (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), a PhD in epidemiology from the University of São Paulo (USP), a post-doctorate in public health (USP) and a specialisation in data science (Johns Hopkins University). He is a Professor Doutor at USP, linked to the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Animal Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny (VPS-FMVZ) and the Peripheries Research Group at the Institute for Advanced Studies (nPeriferias-IEA). He coordinates USP's Multispecies Health Network (MUHE Network), dedicated to the (re)production of the good life (buen vivir) of marginalised multispecies collectives (https://redesame.fmvz.usp.br).
