Dalcimar Casanova is a tenured professor at the Federal University of Technology Paraná (UTFPR), Pato Branco campus. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo (USP, 2013), a Masters degree in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from ICMC-USP (2008 CAPES score 7), and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from UNOESC (2005). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at IFSC-USP, funded by FAPESP. He is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2) and currently coordinates the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PPGEEC/UTFPR). He has an extensive scientific output, with an h-index of 18 and over 2,500 citations on Google Scholar. His research focuses on computer vision, artificial intelligence, complex networks, fractals, and bioinformatics, with strong involvement in technological innovation projects with social and economic impact. He leads research projects funded by agencies such as CNPq and Ageuni, in partnership with companies like Natosafe and Viasoft. Notable initiatives include the Neonatal Biometrics project, aimed at the secure identification of newborns through fingerprint recognition, and the SQL Query Optimization project, which seeks efficient solutions for processing large volumes of structured data. He has received several academic awards, including best paper honors and recognition for advising award-winning works in national competitions, as well as frequent accolades as class patron and honored professor.
